Acne scars and blemishes can have a negative psychological, emotional and physical effect on your mind body and soul. Blemishes and Acne can leave permanent scars on the skin. Your skin reacts to trauma by building scars made up of fibrous tissue. This tissue is not the same as your normal healthy skin, making it appear discoloured, colourless, raised and/or indented.

In the past, topical treatments and surgery were the main treatments for acne scarring. With today’s laser technology, we are able to revise blemishes and acne scars with more success and less risk and harm to your skin.

Laser technology provides resurfacing to even out scar texture, irregularities and discoloration. Along with these treatment procedures, professional skin care can enhance the results and the healing.

Am I a good candidate for this treatment?

The best candidate for Acne treatments is someone who suffers from acne breakouts and/or acne-related inflammation on the face or body, and who is looking for safe and quick treatments for a healthier, clearer complexion. Consult with our team and book a free consultation to see if it’s a good fit.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

Most patients will see the best results after 8 to 10 treatments, scheduled twice a week for a month. How long results are maintained varies from patient to patient and is dependent on severity of the skin and post-procedure skin care. Follow-up sessions are recommended. Once the acne begins clearing up, the time between treatments may be decreased.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session. Stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

What to expect after the treatment?

Your skin can feel warm, like a sunburn, with some redness, but other than that, you really shouldn’t feel any different. There is no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment. Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30). You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. You can go back to gentle washing and using gentle, non-irritating products immediately afterward. You can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.
